February - Education - Spiritual and Secular

It's Leadership Week

This month's Principal is Education: Spiritual and Secular

So why is education so important?  Why do we care? Here is a quick video for you to watch to understand the church's stand on it. https://www.lds.org/pages/focus-on-education?lang=eng

When I was younger I thought that Education was what I did when I went to school or did my homework.  I sort of thought that I learned things while taking lessons like Piano or Dance and that my brother learned from the sports he participated in.  But I never thought that I could educate myself.  Or that the spirit could teach me things.

Boy was I wrong!  Sir Walter Scott (who wrote Ivanhoe) said, "All men who have turned out worth anything have had the chief hand in their own education." I don't think he only had in mind someone sitting at a desk studying his/her brains out, but he also knew that Education happens everywhere.

One of the biggest reasons you are reading this today is because the spirit taught your Mom something. What do you think it was?

You should already be working on "TJEd for Teens".  Please have through Chapter 6 read when you come next Tuesday.
